Put creative thought to work. 8 9 Creative thought is more than a philosophy. It’s a practice. And when you put it in place, you’re better prepared for a meaningful career. Take a look at how a few Skidmore alumni apply creative thought in their everyday lives. ARWA DAMON ’99 is CNN’s Istanbul-based senior international correspondent, well known for her battlefield and humanitarian reports from the front lines in Iraq. Damon has received TV and news Emmys, Peabodys, the Investigative Reporters and Editors award, and the International Women’s Media Foundation “Courage in Journalism” award. The Skidmore French and international relations major has this wisdom to offer: “Never take no for an answer. Doors will close in your face, but look for the unconventional route. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes; learn from them and move on. Languages made my career. If I did not speak Arabic, I would not have gotten as far as I did or as quickly.” CREATE YOUR DIFFERENCE CREATE YOUR DIFFERENCE CNN COLLECTION PHOTO
