COLLEGE The Fifth Annual Academic Festival is an annual exhibition of student work sponsored by Periclean Honor Society, the Honors Forum, and the Student Government Association. All members of the Skidmore student body are invited to apply for this opportunity to display their work. Completed proposals are due no later than 5:00 p.m. on March 31. Faculty sponsorship is required (see proposal form). The following are definitions of the presentation types listed on the application. POSTER SESSIONS (typical format for presenting research in the sciences and social sciences. A poster displays the major hypotheses, methods, and results of your research): Students will have 20 minutes to present their work, and 10 minutes for questions. PAPER SESSIONS (typical format when the nominated work is a paper): Students will read papers, abridgments, or parts from longer papers to an assembled audience for approximately 20 minutes with an additional 10 minutes to answer questions from the audience. PANEL SESSIONS (for collaborative works): Several students will present short papers or formal discussions on related topics to an assembled audience, followed by questions from the audience. A total of 60 minutes will be provided, including time for questions. PRESENTATIONS Students will display activities, e.g. computer programs or experiments, for 20 minutes with 10 minutes for questions. PERFORMANCES (typically for works in the performing arts involving a group of performers or an organized program): Students will participate in performances for which a maximum of 60 minutes are provided. Poetry/Fiction Reading 30 to 60 minutes will be provide to read poetry or fiction works. EXHIBITIONS (for works of art): Student exhibits will be on display for the entire day. 20 minutes will be provided for a presentation of the work, with an additional 10 minutes for answering questions.
