Originally named "Convertible Classroom Building" (CCB), it was erected rapidly in the summer of 1985 to accommodate a classroom shortage created by the new core curriculum adopted the previous year. During the first year of operation, the first floor contained classrooms, while the second floor provided student residences. With the opening of the Tisch Learning Center the following year, CCB was adapted for its present occupants. In 1990, the building was dedicated to F. William Harder, trustee, donor, and parent of two Skidmore students. He established Skidmore's first two endowed chairs and led the way in providing scholarship support for minority students. A shrewd financial planner, he played a critical role in helping guide the College through the move to the new campus and onto a solid financial footing. Creative Thought Matters.
