Willingness To Serve

To the Skidmore College Student Body:

Now is the time to get involved and make a difference in the Skidmore community!   The Student Government Association (SGA) is calling for willing students to apply for service on various SGA, faculty, and all-college committees.   Governance committees at Skidmore are integral in establishing campus policies on issues ranging from diversity to academic rigor.   Appointed student representatives are critical in ensuring that the student voice is heard in college-wide decisions.   Please review the list of committee openings and, if interested, apply no later than April 6 th or April 20 th , depending on the committees that you're applying for.

Applicants should demonstrate commitment, relevant skills, and a desire to enhance or change student life at Skidmore.   After you submit your application, please sign up for an interview at the SGA office door (the SGA office is located on the 2 nd floor of Case at the Case Information Desk and next to the '01 Lounge).   Interviews will be conducted in two phases (see below). You must sign up for the appropriate time slot to be considered; if you apply for a Phase I and a Phase II position simultaneously, you must sign up for two interviews, one during each Phase.

Phase I interviews: April 7th to April 11th : Athletic Council, Budget and Finance Committee, Campus Quality Committee, Campus Security Advisory Committee, Club and Organization Affairs Committee, Committee on Academic Freedom and Rights, Committee on Academic Standing, Communications Committee, Curriculum Committee, Honor Code Commission, Information Resources Council, LateNight Advisory Committee, Parking Court Chair, Parking Court Judge, SkidShop Advisory Committee.

Phase II interviews: April 21st to April 25th : Integrity Board, Speaker's Bureau, Traditions Committee, Student Affairs Subcommittee of the Institutional Policy & Planning Committee (IPPC), Admissions and Financial Aid Subcommittee of IPPC, and the Campus Environment Committee.

An additional day of interviews for Integrity Board only will be held on Sunday, April 27 from 12:30-6:00.

Please consider being an SGA Delegate as a great opportunity to get involved and make your mark at Skidmore College.

Sincerely and on behalf of the SGA Willingness-to-Serve Committee and the current SGA Executive Committee,

Raina Bretan '10 Senator-at-Large and Willingness-to-Serve Committee Chair
Jon Brestoff '08 SGA President
