Case Gallery Schedule
Case Gallery is a completely student run
gallery in Case Student Center.
Dedicated to showing student work, the gallery shows art in all mediums.
First semester is generally devoted to student curated group shows
and installations. These exhibitions have ranged from more tradtional
presentations of painting and sculpture, to interactive installations,
video work and performance. Exhibitions have also been mounted by non-art
students and have included shows dedicated to cultural heritage. Students
from all disciplines are encouraged to submit applications to curate
a show. Second semester is generally devoted to work by senior art
majors. Each week groups of 3-4 senior majors mount an exhibtion of
their work. Gallery openings take place one evening a week, and regularly
feature live music, DJs, food and drink.
Pro-Arts Club
Pro-Arts is the student run arts advocacy
group on campus. The organization acts to both enhance the
community within the Art Department and to broaden the impact
of art on the general campus community. In past years, Pro-Arts
coordinated exhibition tours and discussions with Ian Berry,
curator at the Tang Museum, and artists Fred Wilson, Paul
Henry Ramirez, and Kara Walker. Pro-Arts has sponsored field
trips to area museums and galleries, held various public
art making events, and informal student critiques.
